Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
  1. WHERE IS THE LIBRARY SITUATED?
    Petaling Jaya Community Library is situated at the Petaling Jaya Old Town (opposite Assunta Hospital). For more details please refer to Contact Info page.
  2. HOW DO I JOIN THE LIBRARY?
    To join the Library, simply fill up the registration form and present it to the Librarian at the registration counter.
  3. HOW MANY ITEMS MAY I BORROW?
    Users may borrow a maximum  of 2 books and 2 audio visual material at one time.
  4. FOR HOW LONG MAY I BORROW THE BOOKS I NEED?
    All books and AV materials have a loan period of 2 weeks. It is usually possible to renew loans for another 2 weeks, in person, by internet or by telephone, if the books are not reserved by anyone else. Renewal by telephone must be made during office hours and renewal can only be made once for each books.
  5. WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON'T RETURN MY BOOKS ON TIME?
    Fines will be imposed on members who are late returning their books. Fines imposed are as follows:
  • RM0.20 per day for the 1st 30 days
  • Beyond this period, membership will be suspended for 1 month effective immediately

  1. HOW DO I FIND WHETHER THE LIBRARY HAS THE BOOK I NEED?
    Users may use the Library's Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) terminal located at the counters  on Level 1, 2 and 3 to identify whether books, journal, videos, CDs and other materials available at the Petaling Jaya Community Library. Alternatively, users may use the online searching facilities using the internet.
  2. RESERVATIONS
    If the book that you wish to borrow is on loan to someone else you may be able to reserve it. You will be notified when your reservation is available and the book will be kept for 10 days for you to collect.
  3. WHERE CAN I VIEW VIDEOS, LISTEN TO RADIOS, CASSETTES OR USE MUSIC CD's?
    Members can use the audiovisual facilities and materials in comfort at a specially designated area. Special music corners are created on Levels 1, 2 and 3. Carrels for individual audio listening and video viewing are available at Level 3. 
  4. CAN I USE OR ACCESS THE INTERNET?
    PC's for Internet access are available on and Level 3 (Multimedia Corner). They can be used to access a wide range of information sources on the internet. Please take note that the internet may only be used for educational purposes.
  5. DO YOU OFFER PHOTOCOPYING SERVICE?
    Self service photocopiers are available in the Library. These are operated using photocopy card that can be bought at the Library.
  6. IS THE LIBRARY OPEN TO USERS FROM OUTSIDE PETALING JAYA?
    Yes, our membership is open to all Malaysian citizens as well as foreigners residing in Malaysia. However, one must become a member first before he/she is allowed to enter and use the Library's services and facilities.
