![]() INTRODUCTIONThe Petaling Jaya City Council (MPPJ), or Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ) realising the need for a public library in the Petaling Jaya township, decided to set one on the February 28, 1987. | ![]() PETALING JAYA BOOK CLUBA pro-tem committee with Tan Sri Soong Siew Hoong as chairman was appoited on October 13, 1987 to look into th registration of the Petaling Jaya Book Club, as the library was to be called, under the Societies Act 1966. | ![]() MPPJ LIBRARYOn April 1,1993, MPPJ officially took over operations of the Petaling Jaya Book Club and renamed it the MPPJ Library. This acquisiton clearly showed the firm commitment of the MPPJ towards intellectual development that was in tandem with the physical development of Petaling Jaya. | ![]() A PEOPLE ORIENTATED BUILDINGThe new library was designed, talking into account members and visitors who are from all walks of life. Among the features are a special ramp leading to the main entrance for disabled members, two elevators servicing the four floors and movies station to provide members with an alternative to reading. |
