Kota Damansara Branch Community Library
INTRODUCTION
Recognizing the need for a dissemination of knowledge among society especially in Petaling Jaya, Petaling Jaya Municipal Council (MBPJ) in collaboration with Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) has been trying to create a library in Kota Damansara. Kota Damansara Branch Community Library has provides various facilities for the purpose of encourage an interest in reading and IT literacy among the locals especially in Kota Damansara. The establishment of this library has indirectly indicated MBPJ interest to the development knowledge in line with physical development in Petaling Jaya today.
OBJECTIVES
- To provide library services, facilities and a comfortable space to community living in Kota Damansara.
- To encourage reading habits among children, teenage and housewife.
- To expose the community of Kota Damansara the importance of knowledge and indirectly educate reading habits.
COLLECTION OF MATERIALS
Kota Damansara library is using Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) for classification of library materials. For fiction and Children collection is classify according to alphabetical order of authors name. Among the materials provides in library such as children books collection, fiction collection, examination book collection, newspaper clippings, magazines and reference book collection.
LIBRARY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
This library is using a computerized library management system that is known as ILMU (Integrated Library Management System). ILMU provides Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) to search library materials. ILMU system in Kota Damansara Branch has directly connected with the ILMU systems in Perpustakaan Komuniti Petaling Jaya. Users can use library membership card and also returns and borrowed books from branch and vice versa. Other than that, Kota Damansara library is equipped with security doors automatic system to prevent non- borrowed books been taken out or loss books.
CYBER SPACE
As for early stage of internet services in library, 10 units of personal computer (PC) have provided. Library members can use this facility provided with fees RM1.50 /per hour.

Memberships fees per person is RM11.00 and members is MUST to paid yearly fees as .
